Object problems: high corrosion rates of flowline equipment, stimulated by the content of corrosive gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), as well as high content of dissolved corrosive mineral salts in formation water.

Scope: oil production

Object problems: high corrosion rates of flowline equipment, stimulated by the content of corrosive gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), as well as high content of dissolved corrosive mineral salts in formation water.

Solution:

Inhibitor: DEFENDER-21.5. (himipex.com)

Dosage: continuous supply of 10-20 g of inhibitor per 1 ton of process fluid (produced fluid).

 

Review of application results:              

Corrosion rates of flowline equipment, stimulated by the content of corrosive gases (CO2 and H2S) and high content of dissolved corrosive mineral salts, before applying corrosion inhibitor DEFENDER-21.5, ranged from 0.44 mm/year to 0.56 mm/year. Continuous supply of the above-mentioned inhibitor into well flowlines in the amount of 10-20 g of inhibitor per 1 ton of produced fluid allowed reducing these figures to 0,027-0,034 mm/year. That is: corrosion rates of oil gathering and treatment system’s equipment of the specified European fields decreased by almost 17 times after the application of inhibitor DEFENDER-21.5 in the amounts of no more than 10-20 g of inhibitor per 1 ton of produced fluid. That is an excellent result.
